It all started with a porch, some tools, 
and a semester of high school wood shop in 1972. Herb Unruh used these seemingly meager supplies to create a den for his family's recreation; and lay a foundation for his future....
From 1972 to 1983 life came and went. Graduation, marriage, (to his high school sweetheart) jobs, children (four natural and several "adopted") involvement in his church.
In 1983, using the woodshop skills he had carefully honed as a handyman, Herb ventured into the world of small business. He set up Captain's Residential Repair and Remodel and for ten years he happily fixed, remodeled and built, much to his customers satisfaction.
In 1995-96, the family had recently begun home schooling their three sons when they purchased an abandoned and condemed historic home in the downtown area. The boys were given the year off in order to help remodel and restore their new home. The boys enjoyed the work and they were good at it; UnruhBros. Building & Remodeling LLC was born.
Since then, two more daughters (one adopted) have been added to the family and the historic home has grown into a many faceted place. All of the children, except the youngest, have worked or do work for this truly family business. We enjoy working in our community to make it a better place for all and we look forward to what the future holds!!
